Nahanni National Park Reserve wants to hear from climbers
24 Mar 2010
Parks Canada would like to start a conversation with members of the
climbing community to help inform the future development of a visitor
experience offer that meets the needs of current and future visitors, as
well as the development of a code of practice for climbing in the Cirque of
the Unclimbables and other locations in the park.
The Cirque of the Unclimbables is an internationally renowned climbing
destination, and since the expansion of Nahanni National Park Reserve, this
area and other climbing areas, are now part of the park reserve.
Until March 31, 2010 Parks Canada is inviting all climbers and to
participate in the Nahanni Forum. Please visit www.nahnniplan.ca to sign up
and share your thoughts on discussion topics, such as:
· What should be the best practices for climbing in the Cirque of the
Unclimbables and other climbing locations in the park?
· What do you think about the Code of Ethics that was posted by
volunteers with Cirque 2000 project?
· What type of climbing experience is important you?
· Compared to other climbing areas you may have visited, what is unique
at the Cirque that should be enhanced or maintained?
· Is there information you would like to either enhance or facilitate
your climbing experience?
· What infrastructure is appropriate at the Cirque of Unclimbables and
other climbing areas?
· What suggestions do you have to ensure a memorable climbing
experience with minimal environmental impact?
Please help spread the word and encourage other climbers to join the
discussion at www.nahanniplan.ca
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, comments or
suggestions for how best to engage the climbing community.
