Season opener at the Asulkan Hut - good to be back on skis!

Note that the pricing for the hut has changed with the new ACC administration- $25 per night for members with the hut upgrade, $36 if you don't have the hut upgrade (both members and non-members).

100-200cms in the tree triangle when we skied out on Sunday, with plenty more falling. There was a strong crust near the bottom that provided a supportive base and appeared to be well-bonded both above and below from quick hand-shear tests. There was some wind-affect in more exposed areas, causing humiliation to more than one telemarker. We didn't venture above the hut due to visibility. There were only a few rocks and open creeks on the ski out, but these should be covered up very shortly at the rate things are going. The thermometer was either stuck or the temperature was a steady -8 at the hut all weekend. Either way, that reading is probably close to correct.

The hut is in good shape - heater, lights and stoves working fine. The ACC has installed a new pole at the back of the hut that whistles cheerily in the breeze, but serves no other apparent purpose. Hopefully new foamies are next in the budget.
